Benefits Analyst (Location Flexible; Remote)

Job DescriptionJob Summary The Benefits Analyst, as a member of the Total Rewards team, delivers full spectrum customer service support to employees, the Human Resources team and the organization on the company’s health and welfare benefit programs.

The Benefits Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day benefit operations including implementation, administration, and communication of the Abt’s global health & welfare and wellbeing benefits.

This role will focus heavily on the global management of health and welfare programs.

There will be a focus on leveraging systems and data analysis to recommend process improvements for such day-to-day operations.

Will ensure plans are administered consistent with company policies and are in compliance with federal and state regulations, including but not limited to COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ACA, ERISA, and section 125.

This position will often work independently and will support/partner closely with the Benefits Manager.

This position will be based out of our Cambridge, MA or Rockville, MD office.

Key Roles and Responsibilities Manage all aspects of day-to-day administration of global health and welfare benefit plans (including but not limited to Medical, HSA, Dental, Vision, FSA, COBRA and benefit summaries globally).

Act as a subject matter expert for employees, interpret policies and procedures and ensure ERISA compliance.

Orient new employees to benefit programs, assist employees with enrollment as needed, answer questions surrounding plans and coverage and work with vendors to resolve issues.

Responsible for ensuring integrity of data in Oracle Advanced Benefits.

Administer employee life events in Oracle, work with vendors to ensure accuracy of eligibility extracts, partner with HRIS team to identify and trouble shoot system modifications as well as to improve employee experience.

Participate with Total Rewards team to implement new Absence and Benefit modules in Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management System (HCM) Work closely with Payroll Department to ensure accurate benefit deductions, reconcile discrepancies between systems and process retroactive adjustments, adhering to payroll deadlines.

Process and reconcile benefit invoices.

Partner with Finance department to resolve billing issues and discrepancies.

Ensure accuracy of benefits information in various formats such as on company intranet pages, in orientation materials and recruiting documents.

Partner with Benefits Manager to create effective benefits communications.

Assist Benefits Manager in the administration of annual open enrollment process.

Work with vendors and HRIS to implement new plans or changes, coordinate benefit fairs, brief HR Service Center and other HR Staff on upcoming changes and support employees’ education on changes.

Identify and recommend opportunities to improve benefits processes and procedures and the employee experience.

Support Benefits Manager on other projects such as implementation of new programs.

Participate in benefits surveys to determine competitiveness of company benefits.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of employee benefit principals, practices, procedures, and documentation.

Understanding of state and federal (ERISA) laws, rules and regulations pertaining to employee benefits.

Excellent customer service skills Strong analytical skills Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and good judgment Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to resolve employee issues in a timely and effective manner.

Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and divisions to meet employee needs.

Proficient with HR systems (experience with Oracle preferred) Proficient with Excel Limited understanding of international laws and benefit regulations/offerings Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Five years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree Three years of relevant experience, or PhD This position offers an anticipated annual base salary of approximately $66,000 to $91,000 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographical location.

Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
