Role Summary:This is a business development role within the Los Angeles Urban Center (LA UC) Office, working across all Infrastructure sectors but focused on Transportation & Heavy Civil.

Responsible within the infrastructure sector to pursue assigned marketing and business development activities including prospect and customer analysis, budget tracking, competitor assessment, win plan execution and for recommending win plans, teaming arrangements, and alternative bidding strategies as well as internal presentations to advise executive management.

Reports to the Urban Center Regional Manager and receives operational and functional supervision from the responsible Business Development Manager and/or the Manager of Pre-Construction.

Job Responsibilities:Undertakes research of current and possible future strategic markets.Recommends new services and new industry markets that the company should actively pursueDevelops and maintains industry association and tracks competitor activities and business trendsKeeping informed of customers’ present and future plans for growth, projects, and programmatic and technical requirementsMaintains prospect database for California prospects in Dynamics, a Bechtel BD toolFor a specific prospect, performs necessary research on customer and competition, develops alternate bid strategies, recommends teaming requirements, develops and implements win plan recommendations, and prepares and manages proposal budgetsPerforms various calculations of a moderately complex nature to help analyze the financial background of targeted prospectsSupervises the preparation and coordination of proposals, including developing and managing proposal win plans and guiding market intelligenceDevelops relationships with prospective teaming partnersTracking expenditures against budgets for prospects and urban center office costsDemonstrating through the use of personal knowledge, supplemented by other Bechtel personnel, how Bechtel can help meet the customers’ requirements and expectations.Develops and maintains frequent contacts with middle management of customer, stakeholder organizations, and industry personnelSupports the preparation of corporate approval documents related to business development Basic Qualifications:Level 1: BS degree in relevant field from an accredited university and 6+ years of work experience or 12+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of degreeLevel 2: BS degree in relevant field from an accredited university and 9+ years of work experience or 15+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree Minimum Qualifications:Knowledge of company capabilities and services available to customersWorking knowledge of company policies related to the formulation and approval process for contracts and proposalsGeneral knowledge of the principles and techniques of developing business and sales including pre-positioning, targeting, successing, and prospect pursuitKnowledge of current industry trendsAbility to sell Bechtel’s value proposition, execution approach and commercial positions to customers through knowledge and authenticitySkill in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations to customers and managementDemonstrated initiative and intensity in pursuit of new workSelf-directed, requires limited daily supervision or guidanceProven ability to work effectively in fluid environmentsAbility to influence internally without direct authority with strong covenant-based behavior.
