Asst/Assoc Professor of Pediatrics

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles ( CHLA ) and The Saban Research Institute Diabetes and Obesity Program are searching for a candidate for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor to conduct pre-clinical research in the fields of diabetes and/or obesity.

Candidates must hold a M.D.

and/or Ph.D.

degree and have a record of training and achievement that will allow them to develop or continue independent bench research in the field of obesity and/or diabetes.

Successful candidates will enter an environment that is already rich in translational and clinical research in these areas.

They will integrate with other Diabetes & Obesity Program investigators, as well as investigators in the   USC   Diabetes & Obesity Research Institute ( DORI ), to help understand the biology of obesity and diabetes and to develop novel approaches to disease prediction, prevention and treatment.

 
Academic appointments will be made according to expertise of candidates in one or more of the relevant academic departments at USC The Diabetes & Obesity Program at   CHLA   was established in 2013 with the mission to develop, implement and promote innovative and effective strategies to combat childhood and adolescent diabetes and obesity.

The program is aligned with research, clinical care, hospital wellness and community outreach to provide a comprehensive approach.

  DORI   was established in 2012 with the overall goal of integrating basic, clinical, and public health research in obesity and diabetes at   USC   and its affiliates, including   CHLA .

  DORI   faculty includes 52 investigators from a variety of academic departments (Medicine, Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, Physiology & Biophysics and Surgery) and Schools (College of Letters Arts and Sciences; Schools of Engineering, Gerontology and Pharmacy) at   USC .

They conduct interdisciplinary and basic, translational and clinical research.
