Come work for a company that has been around for over 130 years and continues to grow and play a significant role in the building of America The Associate Engineer supports efforts throughout the company to optimize the operation, performance, and efficiency of all manufacturing processes. Responsibilities Performs data collection for power systems studies Maintains the database of power systems studies completed within the department Creates and modifies drawings as needed for projects, plant improvements or in response to plant requests Participates in plant outages Designs electrical systems (with guidance) including sizing of conductors and protective devices Performs load calculations for new and existing power systems Assists with all aspects of capital projects Attains basic knowledge of the process to support control system applications including interlocking and sequencing efficiently Develops new control systems applications for smaller projects Understands control systems hardware and can design control systems hardware and select field devices Provides field inspections, coordination and supervision for electrical work on projects with guidance from senior department personnel Works with the Energy Team to identify improvements and participates in energy audits Attains accreditation as an arc flash qualified person trainer Provides technical and safety training to plant electricians Supports plants by diagnosing and correcting electrical problems Education Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Requirements/Qualifications Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) Able to travel to company facilities and other meeting locations regularly A self-starter; able to work both independently and as a team Understanding of control system fundamentals Benefits At CalPortland, were proud to offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits package that provides health and financial support to our most important resources: our employees.
