Reporting to and under the direction of the Director of Design Engineering, the Associate Design Engineer has three main functions: working with customers, interfacing with Microfabrica’s process engineering and production teams, and designing new products for Research and Development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Customer Contact:
- Interfaces directly with customers to understand product desires and to determine application requirements
- Manages customer projects internally
- Optimizes customer design
- Provides customer support
- Writes technical reports for customers
Internal Interfaces
- Interfaces with process engineering to understand and communicate design rules
- Creates design layouts and interfaces with the production team for manufacturing hand-offs
Research and Development
- Conceptualizes and designs new products for internal research and development projects.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors’ of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics
- One to three years in Design and Simulation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics
· Experience in MEMs design
DEMONSTRATED SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Strong knowledge base in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Analysis)
· Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation
· Attention to detail
· Ability to work independently and closely with cross-functional teams
· Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills
· Self-starter with innovative ideas
· Proficient in Design and Simulation software (SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, and ANSYS)
PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Proficient in or familiarity with LEdit
