Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), In Space Vehicles Engineering, is seeking an Associate Antenna and Array Sub-System Engineer (Level 2) to support the team in El Segundo, CA. The In Space Vehicles Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
Position Overview:
The Associate Antenna and Array Sub-System Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on satellite antenna and payload products and capabilities that help our customers to meet their mission requirements. This position will work with a highly-motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems.
Position Responsibilities:

Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex antenna/array systems – communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components.

Evaluates customer and/or operational needs to define and coordinate antenna/array system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

Performs various analyses to optimize total system architecture.

Performs trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.

Supports the development and validation of spacecraft antenna/RF analysis, design and test requirements.

Defines and conducts simple tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.

Collects and analyzes data on product performance to ensure compliance to requirements.

Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by recommending engineering solutions to issues.
Work Authorization:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. (An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Experience working with antenna and payload RF.

Experience or knowledge of satellite antenna subsystems, and the antenna subsystem lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years.

Experience with HFSS, DOORS, MATLAB, TEAMCENTER ENTERPRISE, and/or Gated Design Process.

Experience in the design or development of payload and/or phased array antennas.

Hands-on hardware (lab environment) experience with Antenna design or testing.

Experience in phased array antenna production and verification.
Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s and 2 or more years’ experience, Master’s degree or PhD degree. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
