The position of Analytical Chemist I is within our Toxicology business unit located in Pomona, California.

This role will perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of biological specimens, conduct research to develop or improve analytical techniques, methodology, procedures, and investigates application of instruments in analysis.

This role will provide quality control specifications to ensure process consistency, quality and optimal yield performance; will conduct measurements of compounds, raw materials, intermediaries and final product; and will ensure all processes and procedures follow regulations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO LC-MS/MS and GC-MS operator (30%) Assist with quality control and quality assurance practices (10%) Assist with SOP updates and modifications (5%) Extraction chemist for multiple matrices (30%) Participate in proficiency testing (10%) Analysis of outside funded project sample screening and confirmation (10%) Prepare buffers and lab solutions (5%) Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job.

Has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies Perform other duties and projects as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING Required BS degree in chemistry, biology or related technical field or equivalent experience 0-2 years’ experience in a laboratory and/or related field Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) Proficient using scientific notation to convert units of mass, volume, and molarity Strong written and communication skills Preferred Product Knowledge on medical device or diagnostics Database and laboratory software Knowledge of Microsoft Project Pipetting and sample handling WHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
