AM, Swing shift, and Overnight Resident Advisor (RA)

As a Residential Advisor, you will be responsible for demonstrating professionalism when interacting with clients and their families while maintaining boundaries, observing and reporting client behaviors, ensuring client safety, and facilitating the clients’ daily activities per the program schedule.

DAILY TASKS INCLUDE:
Facilitating activities of clients throughout the day from morning routines to chores supervision, meal service, and laundry assistance
Client transportation to and from appointments
Client behavior monitoring, observation, and documentation in Client records
Observes client location and documents observation in Residential Checklist (minimum of every 15 minutes during A.M.

and P.M.

shifts, every ½ hour during overnight shifts).
Facilitates assigned groups/meetings/activities per program schedule
Coordinates milieu treatment with counseling staff (via client record and staff communication)
Writes shift log (including check in and check out as well as a summary of the shift events)
Transports clients to/from and supervision of clients at community 12-step meetings per program schedule (If qualified, approved by insurance)
Transports clients per supervisor’s directives (for court, ancillary services, etc.)
Ensures transportation safety by conducting vehicle inspections and following all traffic laws

Ensures client telephones are available during designated hours
Observe self-administration of client medications (only after provided with appropriate training and document per company policy)

Ensures physical plant safety and security by conducting regular house checks, fire drills, and disaster drills per policy and procedure
Orientation of new clients to house rules
Conducts check-in to residence with new clients including search of items brought to facility and lock-up of contraband and medications / Complete Admission/Intake paperwork with incoming client when needed
One-on-one monitoring of at-risk clients (ATA risk; suicidal ideation, etc.) per directive from Residential Supervisor or Director

Follows emergency procedures exactly (including following paging protocol, following directives given exactly, transportation, etc.)
ATA prevention; including one-on-one peer counseling, notification to assigned counselor and immediate notification (via in person or by paging) of Director or Program Director whenever a client talks about leaving the program
Conducts UA drug screen collection when directed, following appropriate procedures
Attend mandatory staff meeting (Friday’s at 1p.m.; meeting times vary)
Consistency with carrying out rules of the program as established by 1 Method Center Center
Professional and compassionate interaction with clients
Coordinate with Director and Residential Supervisor re room changes
Assures the unit milieu is physically safe at all times
Participates in alumni and referral source events pertinent to the facility
Assures the unit is sanitary through cleaning, emptying trashes, straightening around, etc., per the Advisor Checklist and through personal initiative
Reporting structural and operational issues to Director in writing, i.e.

broken door handles, towel racks, smoke alarm battery warning, burnt out lights, etc.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS
Perform other duties as assigned by the Residential Supervisor or Director
Represent Program positively in all scenarios perceived as marketing opportunities
SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent

RADT-1; certification required

Proof of continuing education –as required to keep registration/certification.

Excellent communication skills

Current First aid/CPR certification

Clean driving record

Ability to take direction

Prior experience working in a residential treatment setting a plus.
