AIG: Assistant Actuary

AIG L& R Individual Retirement Product Development is seeking an Assistant Actuary for the Variable Annuity pricing team.

This position will report to AVP – Head of Variable Annuity, and will be based in Woodland Hills, CA (Preferred) or Houston, TX.

Qualified remote candidates will be highly considered.

Role and Responsibilities This role is focused on the pricing of variable annuity products to ensure the continued success and long term profitability of AIG’s L& R variable annuity line of business.

The main responsibilities include: Routinely re-optimize the pricing levers of existing products to balance margins and competitiveness.

Ensure pricing models are updated with up to date and accurate assumptions, and partner closely with financial teams to ensure assumptions remain relevant.

Explain nuanced pricing outcomes, especially as they differ across accounting frameworks (economic, statutory, GAAP).

Assist the model owner to define enhancements to and test the pricing model.

In order to accomplish this responsibility, partner closely with the model development.

Support the R& D process for new variable annuity products or features with thorough pricing analysis.

Monitor industry trends in variable annuity pricing and understand the competition.

Act as a subject matter expert for variable annuities for projects as assigned.

Position Requirements Preferred High proficiency in at least one actuarial pricing projection software, ideally Risk Agility FM.

Prior experience in annuity pricing (preferably variable annuities), product development or financial reporting.

Prior experience with hedging.
