Students can create their own rooms, study with friends, and find study rooms that match their subject area or vibe.We believe that studying should be enjoyable, whether you do it on your own or with friends.

In study rooms, you can keep track of tasks, chat with others, and even play music to help you focus.

It is a platform built by students, for students.During the 2020-2021 school year, we had 5.5 million unique visitors on our platform, and the average user spends at least an hour on our platform everyday that they use it.

This candidate is comfortable and enjoys working in a team but also independently as needed to tackle larger initiatives.We are looking for someone with strong technical prowess, agility, and communication skills.

Always working smarter, not harder.Candid You communicate consistently and authenticallyFlexible You go with the flow and find new paths to your goals.Empathetic You understand how others feel and know why they act the way they doA Problem-Solver You take initiative and present solutions to problems that you encounter or notice.You should have:5-10 years of experience in frontend, backend, or full-stack roles.Experience with React and NextJS.Experience with, or interest in developing real-time applications, leveraging technologies like Websockets or WebRTC.Experience with Test Driven Development.Some knowledge of frontend (React) and backend (misc.) software design patterns.Nice to haves (or willing to learn):Prior design experience, comfort working independently on new features.Comfort & excitement for working on greenfield projects and experimental new features.MERN stack experience (especially MongoDB, ExpressJS).Prior experience developing public or private APIs.Experience improving developer experiences through dev ops or other tooling (Terraform, Docker, Circle CI / Jenkins, etc.).ResponsibilitiesApply your full-stack expertise to deliver exceptional product experiences that heighten student productivity.Short-Mid TermWork closely with engineering, design, and product to scope and deliver well-tested, maintainable new features.Optimize and iterate upon existing features and systems.Support backend engineers in revamping and optimizing our backend systems.Prioritize quality by instilling best-practices for automated testing and monitoring.Mid-Long TermLearn and leverage frameworks across our entire stack (Mongo, Express, React, NextJS, NodeJS, SocketIO, Terraform, Google Cloud, Sentry, DataDog, etc.).Independently lead the end-to-end development of experimental new features.Propose opportunities rooted in technical capabilities to improve product and/or developer experience.Balance your time between coding, architecting, and scoping larger initiatives.We are especially interested in finding a candidate that is representative of our student population.
