POSITION SUMMARY

The Activities Coordinator will coordinate staff, interns, and volunteers while planning and leading workshops that support the objectives of the American Indian Clubhouse and ensure proper documentation of all department activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Coordinate daily activities to meet academic and program requirements

* Coordinate department staff, adult and youth volunteers, and youth participants during various functions

* Assist Director of Youth Services in fundraising and program development and reporting duties as assigned

* Supervise and attend off-site activities including camps, youth retreats, and trainings

* Work with the Director of Youth Services to prepare and execute department marketing and outreach plan

* Prepare and implement a department education plan, and work with Central High School administration

* Assist with the training of new staff members and volunteers

* Work with other UAII Programs and other community-based agencies as directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Qualifications:
* 2-year prior experience working in a supervisorial role.

* Prior experience working with youth.

* Experience Supervising a program, managing staff, and planning a budget.

Required Education:
* Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college

Certifications: * Maintain a valid CA License and Auto Insurance

Confidentiality: * Maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information adhering to HIPPA, professional codes of conduct, State of CA regulations, Privacy Act, and UAII policies and procedures

* This position has access to sensitive information, and a breach in confidentiality will be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination

Communication/ Interpersonal Skills:
* Possess the ability to communicate with others in a courteous and professional manner

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Proficient in English

* Will be communicating with youth, parents, coworkers, Central High School Administration, and other community-based agencies.

Technology Skills:
* Familiarity with various social media platforms

* Working knowledge of common office software programs, Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Other Skills:
* Available and willing to travel as needed

* Available to work evening and weekend hours as needed

* Will have personal responsibility for maintaining any job-related professional licensure or accreditation

* Willingness to learn new skills and participate in training sessions relevant to the position

POSITION PREFERENCES

* Experience working with the American Indian/Alaskan Native community.

* Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups and performance-based government contracts.

* Experience working in an outdoor environment and participating in high adventure activities.

* Knowledge of Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (Public Law 93-638)

* Prior experience working in a non-profit agency is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment:

Throughout the year, staff may attend trainings, youth retreats and residential camps/outdoor camps.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk frequently, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear.

There are prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles.

The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision.

Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with staff and vendors.

The ability to participate in outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and group sporting activities will be required.
