Active Wellness: Certified Personal Trainer

Role and ResponsibilitiesA Personal Trainer is responsible for managing the fitness floor, being responsive to members and guests by offering assistance, and educating Active Wellness members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment.

This person also performs assessments, provides package prescriptions, answers fitness and wellness related questions, and sells personal training packages.Specific ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsSell and deliver personal training sessions to clientsSchedule and conduct new member onboarding sessionsAssist with new member outreach and follow-up with low usersAssist members in using safe and effective exercise forms during their workoutsMaintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor, racking weights.

Includes picking up loose towels, water bottles, magazines, cleaning equipment, etc.Perform fitness assessments (movement and posture assessments, blood pressure checks, body composition tests) as requested by membersSupport, teach and encourage members to meet his/her fitness goalsAssist in the development and implementation of new fitness programs/classesAdminister emergency care to members and guests in need of assistanceWork as a TEAM with all other departmentsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisorOther FunctionsBe knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active WellnessPromote club services and activitiesAssist with keeping the club well stocked and cleanAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingHandle injury and illness and security incident reportingRequirements:Qualifications and Education RequirementsCommunication skills, customer service orientedOperational knowledge of resistance training equipment and proper formKnowledge of anatomy, biomechanicsKnowledge of injury prevention and basic rehabilitationKnowledge of basic movement and posture assessments and body composition assessmentsAbility to calculate target heart rateBasic knowledge in nutritionFour (4) years college degree in fitness-related field or certificate from an accredited 2-year program at a university preferredMinimum one (1) NCCA or NBFE accredited certificationPrevious health club personal training experience is a plus.Must be detail-oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer serviceStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results-oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryAED/CPR/First Aid CertifiedNational Personal Training Certification(s) required (see approved Certification, Licenses and Permits list) as well as modality-specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)Proof of citizenship or legal statusPhysical and Working ConditionsAbility to take the responsibility for the health and safety of othersAbility to stand for several hours in the same shift; ability to lift 25 lbsFitness club environmentMust follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
