A Place Called Home has a great opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Athletic’s Coordinator to explore and implement creative ways to deliver programming that will shape the future of the youth participating in our programs.

ABOUT USA Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth and community center in South Central Los Angeles.

APCH provides educational programs, counseling, mentoring, music, dance and art classes, fitness and health and wellness opportunities.

As youth participate in our programs, they discover interests and talents and develop a better sense of themselves and their place in the world around them.

Our goal is to increase the likelihood that youth will stay in school, pursue higher education, attain viable jobs, and become active community members capable of making positive change in the world in which they live.

Our mission is to serve youth and families directly and the optimal way to do that is in person.

The majority of our positions require employees to work onsite at our facilities.

Up to 40 hours per Week SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Athletic Program Manager and Associate Director of Wellness, the Athletic Program Coordinator implements program and agency goals, REACH objectives, agency best practices, and program efficiencies.

The coordinator will support in the planning, promoting and administering athletic programs, sports league activities, and classes developed by the Athletics Program and of interest for APCH members.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWorking under the direction of the Athletic Program Manager and Associate Director of Wellness, the Athletic Coordinator will assist with creating, organizing, and supervising athletics and sports league programs; recruiting players and coaches; training coaches; coordinating banquets, ordering equipment and uniforms; scheduling games/classes as needed, etc.Collaborate with manager to onboard, train, and supervise program staff, volunteers, and internsAssist in curriculum design and implementation of all sports programmingCollaborate with the program manager to create a marketing plan that includes class descriptions, website content, communication strategies, and development and distribution of collateral materials.Perform all necessary administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to phone calls,emails, recruitment of new partners, and other program-related durites.Manage inventory of program and sports league equipment, ensuring that equipment is sufficient for program needs and that equipment is in good working conditionAssist in coordinating South Central Sports League programs, activities, and logistics (scheduling, recruitment of members, purchasing equipment, and coordinating with league partners)Teach recreational enrichment classes during after school and sports league seasons as assigned by the Athletics Program Manager.Support the department with the coordination of Program Tracking and Evaluation (Pre and post evaluations for athletes on all teams and athletics classes)Identify, recruit and oversee training of APCH members for participation in the APCH South Central Sports LeagueAssist in coordinating league tryouts, clinics, and manage roster selections into sports teams, and assess players skillsEnsures that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followedSupport in overseeing components of the sports league programming: (Academic tracking, Evaluations, Parent-Athlete Orientations,, Schedule and Coaching Games)Plan, coordinate, schedule, promote, lead, and evaluate athletic programs and special events.Coordinate the Athletics Parents ClubNotify Athletic Program Manager and assist in managing and ensuring maintenance of the athletic field and playground by scheduling and participating in daily cleanups, identifying and reporting any safety concernsOther ResponsibilitiesSupervise members at all times in athletics fieldEstablish and maintain strong working relationships with participants, staff, and external partners.Ensuring that staff supporting with the supervision of members adheres to all policies: (wearing safety vest, approved activities/sports, in direct site of all members)Work with agency staff to enforce center rules and policiesCreate and submit paperwork in a timely fashion (Monthly Reports, Rosters, Team Requests, Game Report Forms, Volunteer Report Forms, Evaluations)Support other team members in carrying out center philosophyMentor through actions and behavior in observing dress code, language and team supportHave a growing knowledge base for sports.
