We all play on the same team and value the insights and contributions that every member of our team makes daily.Under general supervision, the Paralegal will collaborate with key stakeholders to lead our contract review and management processes.
The Paralegal will provide exceptional service and guidance across a broad set functional domains to support a.K.A.
Brands leadership with maintaining legal compliance, including in the areas of board governance, document management, document retention, legal technology, legal service, and related functions.
Additionally, the Paralegal will work with individual stakeholders to support legal and compliance work streams across business development, human resources, operations, information technology, merchandising, and marketing.
The position will serve as the liaison between the Company and outside legal counsel and will serve as a trustworthy member of our team.Job Requirements Include:Develop, lead, and manage the organization’s contract/agreement review process, including the review of individual contracts/agreements for accuracy, appropriate terms, and language.Provide guidance, support, and input across a number of functional disciplines and stakeholders with a focus on assisting with legal compliance, document management, and document retentionConduct research, fact gathering, and diligence in support of legal matters pertaining to Company employment and business practices including mergers and acquisitions.Provide broad support of our governance practices, including taking and maintaining minutes at Board of Director’s meetings, committee meetings, and shareholder/investor events.Gather and analyze statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents, and other data.Organization, management, and tracking of legal documentation to ensure timely responses.Conducting research on legal issues using necessary resources as needed.Assisting outside attorneys in preparing letters and legal documents.Proofreading outgoing legal documents.Making recommendations to ensure that documents are accurate and up to date.Establishing and maintaining internal client contact through correspondence, telephone/Zoom conversations, and meetings, as needed.Assessing legal issues and engaging attorneys as needed to develop strategy to correct identified issues.
Implementing solutions to include collaborating with other business units, customers, and outside counsel.Creating model documents and templates.
Utilizing computer databases to organize and store information.
Coordinating organization and maintenance of matter management files.Other duties as assigned.Education & Experience Requirements:BS degree or equivalent; Paralegal certificate preferred.Minimum of 3 years of general paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate law department, preferably with subject matter experience consistent with the essential functions and including Employment Practices, Mergers and Acquisitions.
5-8 years of prior experience preferred.At least 2-3 of demonstrated experience in contract/agreement reviews & administration.Demonstrated project management skills.Knowledge & Skill REquirements:Exceptional organizational skills are required.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated success as a team player.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and track and meet deadlines while being responsive to internal and external clients.Must be able to work independently.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Equal Employment Opportunity Statementa.K.A.
