908 Devices is headquartered in Boston, MA, near the Seaport and has a satellite office in North Carolina and a growing population of remote staff worldwide.Position Summary: This role is for an experienced technical writer to develop customer facing user documentation and training materials for all product lines of 908 Devices, which covers both life science and field forensic markets.

Reporting to the Director of Product Management, the successful candidate will work closely with members of the product management group, technical staff, marketing, training, and operations.

He or She will drive all tasks involved in the development of user documentation in multiple languages and drive all translation activities.

The successful candidate will rely on expertise from instructional system designers and subject matter experts, also apply technical writing skills, and effective use of learning strategies, to meet the needs of various documentation requirements.

This position will be based in our Boston, MA headquarters.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Create and update user manuals and quick reference guides across all 908 Devices product lines, e.G., MX, Rebel and ZipChipDrive translation activities with appropriate vendors and suppliersSupport field training & product management teamto develop advanced training curricula and evaluate effectiveness of user documentation during the training for improvementMaintain in-depth understanding of 908 Devices principal productsWork within the 908 Devices Quality Management System based upon the ISO9001:2000 standardFuture responsibilities will include e-learning curriculum developmentSkill Requirements: A comprehensive background in user documentation and training curriculum development in a related discipline with hands-on instrumentation experience is necessaryExceptional customer support skillsOutstanding technical communication ability (oral and written)Technical communication skillsInnate curiosity and interest in instrumentationSelf-starter with strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and ability to energize othersThe ability and desire to self-govern is expected, but the successful candidate will be operating in an interdisciplinary environment in most activitiesExperience Requirements & Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience developing technical documents and implementing training course materials and curriculum, preferably technology basedProven success in teaching technical skills to users from varied backgrounds is requiredExperience with curriculum development tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Flash animation, etc., is requiredExperience with mass spectrometry, capillary electrophoresis, or liquid chromatography technologies is highly desirableExperience with document management, change control, and instrument manuals is a plusBachelor’s degree or higher strongly preferredScience, engineering, or technical education background or expertise desired
