ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage;
  • Geotechnical site characterization;
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Small project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.

Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.

  • Training: This position may require OSHA health and safety, first aid, CPR training, and medical monitoring paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 25%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 25%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, including geotechnical field studies, geotechnical design, and construction support services. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice. (required)
  • Strong fundamentals in structural engineering theory (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, Slide, LPILE, Slope/W, Seep/W, Sigma/W, FLAC, and ARCGIS. (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (required)
  • Experience with design collaboration software (e.g. Bluebeam Studio), and operation of VDC/BIM software. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. drivers license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
