In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.Prepares electrodes and stubs so as to make them suitable for welding and subsequent melting according to Shultz Steel procedures.Assists in pre-melt set up and start up of VAR furnaces and assists VAR operator during melt and post-melt of ingot and crucible handling.Assists in start up and shut down of VAR furnaces, including shut down under emergency conditions.Weighs metal ingots and loads metal into furnace by crane.Removes crucible containing metal ingot from furnace, moves levers to tilt crucible or open crucible. Removes metal ingot from crucible. Records pertinent data..Performs periodic maintenance and cleaning of furnaces and equipment.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
