Veterinary Technician

This position requires a broad knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to help provide veterinary support for vivo models to screen therapeutics and devices being developed for various indications.

Experience with anesthesia, dosing and sampling techniques is required.Other important functions include:Able to perform veterinary duties for research teams as needed to support the Attending Veterinarian.Manage and observe animals for general health and overall wellbeing.Provide and track routine veterinary care for ASC colony animals (i.e.

dental cleaning, catheter maintenance, and nail and hoof trimming)Handle, restrain, and provide care for all species of laboratory animals at the site.Proficient in the administration of test substances by various basic methods (i.e., oral gavage, IP, IV, ocular, dermal, etc.).Collection of biological specimens (i.e., blood from appropriate vessel from all species of laboratory animals at the site)Able to administer anesthesia, monitor animals under anesthesia, and recover multiple species of animals.Able to perform study related activities in compliance with study protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLPs) when applicable.Review documentation to ensure functions performed meet quality control requirements.Use GLPs, SOPs, processes and company policies when performing all job functions.Perform study preparation activities including form preparation, collection tube labeling and room setup.Interface with different teams including Veterinary staff, Study Directors, Principal Investigators, QC/QA, Account Managers.Maintain accurate records in various internal databases.Perform other duties as directed by Management.Candidate Requirements:Certification as a registered veterinarian technician (RVT) is required.Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, or pharmacology is preferredMinimum 4 years’ relevant industry or veterinary experienceBackground in lab animal (in vivo) research is preferred.
