Veterinary Technician (Internal Medicine)

Requirements: Credentialed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant with at least 3 years of experience in veterinary medicine

Reports to: DVM, Shift Lead, Department Managers, Owners

Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital is a 24-Hour specialty and emergency animal hospital located in the heart of Hollywood, California. We are looking for a friendly, qualified veterinary technicians to join our internal medicine department. MASH is a new specialty and emergency animal hospital that opened in 2017. We offer specialty and emergency veterinary services and have specialty veterinarians in oncology, dentistry, nutrition, surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology, and emergency and critical care. MASH is a newly constructed hospital housing new surgery suites, appointment rooms, treatment areas, and state-of-the-art equipment. MASH is eager to provide the Hollywood and surrounding Los Angeles community with the highest quality specialty and emergency veterinary medicine.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of veterinary technician experience. Candidates should be able to work independently and under busy schedules. Candidates should also be comfortable discussing medications, and treatments with clients as well as following up with their inquiries. Candidates should be professional, friendly, courteous, able to multi-task. Candidates should have basic computer skills and organizational skills as well as excellent communication skills (knowledge of Cornerstone a big plus). RVT or experience with anesthesia preferred.

Expected abilities

· IV Catheter placement

· Blood Draw

· patient restraint (including felines) for ultrasound, radiographs, venipuncture

· Medically able to take radiographs (no medical condition barring them from radiology)

· Physically able and WILLING TO lift up to 40 lbs.

· able to perform medical math (basic algebra)

· Willing to possibly work overtime

· Cleaning the department

· laundry

· Know normal vital signs for canines and felines

· stocking

· working in close quarters

· Strong Communication Skills

· Assisting for routine anesthetic procedures
