VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center is a high volume, AAHA accredited, state-of-the-art specialty referral and 24-hour critical care hospital located in West Los Angeles.

We are currently accepting applications for our Emergency and Critical Care department (ECC) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Our ECC and ICU departments are fully equipped and staffed to provide the maximum level of care 24/7 to both incoming critical and non-critical emergencies, transfers from both our referring veterinarians and internal specialty services, and post-operative patients from our surgery department.

We work on a wide variety of cases on canine and feline patients, and in our ICU ward the most critical patients receive top notch intensive care using advanced techniques and specialized equipment.

We are seeking experienced technicians to work overnight on both our emergency service as well as in our ICU.

ECC and/or ICU Technicians:Our emergency technician position requires a veterinary technician with a minimum of 2 years of current experience in veterinary medicine.

Emergency experience is not required but is considered a plus.Candidates must either be actively licensed or currently in process of working towards obtaining their RVT license.Skills required include: Small animal restraint and handling, basic and advanced nursing care, venipuncture and IV catheterization must be mastered, basic radiography, lab sample handling and running in-house lab equipment, anesthesia monitoring and troubleshooting, and general knowledge of veterinary medicine (including basic knowledge of emergency medicine and procedures).Responsibilities include: Providing nursing care to both our stable and critical hospitalized patients, triaging and stabilizing incoming emergencies, providing treatment to our outpatients, assisting with basic anesthetic procedures, and maintaining a clean and stocked treatment area.We typically begin our newest team members in our emergency department with the opportunity to advance into our ICU as skills and knowledge are developed.In order to be hired directly into our ICU unit, candidates must have at least 2 years of experience specifically in ECC or specialty medicine, must possess adequate knowledge of critical care, advanced nursing techniques, commonly used medication dosages and calculations, and must be either actively licensed or qualified to sit for board exams.

Additional Info:All emergency department positions/schedules do involve working at least one weekend shift.

Graveyard hours also pay an additional pay differential.We utilize a ” 4×10″ schedule (4-day work week, 10-hour shifts)Both full-time and part-time options are available.
