Technician II, Electrical

This position will be located in our Sylmar, CA office.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

Supports the research and development, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronic an electro-mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, and systems, including analogue, digital and logic systems, by performing a wide range of technical functions. Lays out, builds, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies complex developmental and production components, parts, equipment and systems.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

  • Lays out and assembles experimental circuitry and/or complete prototype models of company products and product components. Recommends changes in circuitry and/or other specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.

  • Prepares diagnostic tests, sets up test apparatus, and conducts operational/functional tests to evaluate the performance and reliability of prototype items. May assist in the design, construction, test and checkout of complex test equipment and the development of test procedures.

  • Analyzes and interprets test data. Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance. Prepares technical reports with supporting graphic and schematic documentation to describe and illustrate unit operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.

  • Troubleshoots and debugs production item assemblies, sub-assemblies, and system to isolate faults. Determines remedies for malfunctions, and repairs products using established procedures. Troubleshoots test failures, field returns, and retrofits.

  • Provides leadership and mentoring to less experienced technical personnel.

  • Recommends improvements on productivity and work environment.

  • Ensures that lab safety and operating procedures are observed by all personnel.

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING 

  • High School Diploma / GED

  • Associates Degree (± 13 years) AA Degree/trade school certification or specialized training/apprenticeship in Engineering Technology, or specialized training which provides a theoretical understanding of electronic or electro-mechanical disciplines or equivalent.

  • OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Minimum 8 years

  • Progressively more responsible work experience is normally required to achieve the level of competency and depth of understanding necessary to perform at this level.

  • Prefer technical ingenuity and creativity to support and assist with design work.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team (typically with Engineers and other Technicians) and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Ability to travel approximately 5%.

  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

  • Occasional overtime is a requirement of this position.
