Senior Actuarial Technician

Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Actuarial Technician to join our team at Ameriprise Build and complete model-based processes, including management of inputs, calculations (processing), and outputs.

Make process improvements and adjustments to existing tools.

Support business decision-making and reporting by providing model results (output) and financial or statistical analyses (spreadsheets) at product/LOB level for corporate actuarial, enterprise risk management, and other internal clients.

Support spreadsheet and model validation control activities.

Responsibilities Prioritize multiple relationships, and at times with external parties and clients.

Serve as the main point of contact to answer questions within model operations.

Act as a liaison among business leaders, staff, and utility functions to capture information and share standard processes , and to ensure initiatives are completed appropriately.

Develop or modify software applications or programs used to assist with completing risk and/or valuation models using one of a number of programming languages or software development frameworks, such as VBA (used with Excel/Access), SQL, Python, or other.

Work with Technology on behalf of Corporate Actuarial in development and/or implementation of new solutions.

Lead the execution of high complexity risk and/or valuation models including the management of inputs, processing, and outputs (results) based on risk and reporting requirements.

Request technical environments and monitors processing logs.

Maintain documentation for risk processes at the Ameriprise product or LOB level.

Support input, spreadsheet, and model validation control activities.

Support the testing of model and process changes, as needed by corporate model and actuarial teams.

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields 5-7 years of relevant experience.

Good analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills.

Ability to use statistical analysis and modeling.

Shown understanding of business operations and processes in more than two areas.

Ability to communicate effectively on recommendations and analysis results.

Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with MS Excel, VBA, MS Access, and other database applications.
