Job Description and Duties

**Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) was implemented. PLP 2020 requires that each full-time employee receive a percent reduction in pay in exchange for 16 hours PLP 2020 leave credits monthly through June 2022.**

Under the general supervision of the Unit Supervisor, the Psychiatric Technician provides a basic level of general nursing care to individuals with mental, emotional, or developmental disabilities, or visually impaired, medically ill, or infirm individuals; and does other related work. Assists the Registered Nurse in the delivery of medical and psychiatric nursing care to patients; assists other interdisciplinary treatment team members in the general delivery of treatment.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. (Applicants who are within four months of completing the Psychiatric Technician curriculum accredited by the BVNPTE will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure this license before they will be eligible for appointment.)

    3. Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
