Overview Overlook Medical Center is seeking a per diem Monitor Technician to work from 7:30am-7:30pm at least once a week plus weekends as required by department.
Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs Monitor Technician functions related to patient information.
Conducts telephone duties in a courteous and responsive manner.
Assists in prioritizing and problem solving monitoring needs.
Meets the needs of the patients and the care team.
Reports appropriate information to on-coming shift to foster continuity.
Reports changes in condition to RN in a timely fashion.
Reports to physicians with complete information in a professional manner.
Communicates with other patient care areas in a professional manner.
Utilizes the 5 minute rule for notification and escalation.
Accurately verifies correct patient tele pack and room assignment using the shift census.
Performs technical activities competently.
Utilizes monitor station computers accurately and efficiently.
Appropriately utilizes Executone and beeper systems.
Operates fax machine.
Appropriately maintains MX40 and PICC IX equipment.
Competent in admitting/discharging patients, setting alarms, individualizing alarms, troubleshooting O2 sat, and accurately measuring QT utilizing the E Calipers.
Manages alarms, prints and reviews strips, runs unit summary every 4 hours.
Prepares the MX40 prior to dispensing, making sure to double check two patient identifiers.
Maintains complete and accurate documentation.
Labels, files and maintains orderly EKG strips.
Labels files and maintains orderly Health Records.
Documents arrhythmia alarms and changes in patient rhythm.
Enters telemetry charges in computer once a shift.
Maintains telemetry census book.
Reports any updates or changes in the system in the log book placed in central telemetry.
Demonstrates Monitor Technician responsibilities.
Precepts/mentors new monitor technicians as needed.
Signs off blue book and provides a positive learning environment, conducts self in a calm, purposeful manner during stressful situations.
Orders and replenishes unit supplies.
Actively participates in cost containment through effective use of supplies and resources.
Readily accepts challenges of new experiences, procedures and equipment.
Double checks code cart signatures.
Keeps current with data and information.
Attends staff meetings, keeps current with meeting minutes and posted information.
Shows initiative in keeping current with annual mandatory education as well as continuing education.
