We are currently looking for a meticulous Lab Technician who will be responsible for supporting our laboratory staff with the primary goal of succeeding in producing reliable test results. Your main job responsibility will be receiving samples, extracting DNA, setting up PCR reactions, analyzing genotyping data, reporting results to clients, as well as general lab maintenance and other lab duties.
In order to be successful as a Lab Technician you will need to be thorough when carrying out your duties, successfully maintain records of laboratory processes and equipment, and generate reports to submit to the relevant laboratory manager.
Candidates must live within the Los Angeles area to be considered for this position.
Lab Technician Responsibilities:
- Collecting, receiving, testing, and/or analyzing samples following the SOPs
- Reporting the results to the clients and troubleshoot problems, as needed
- Maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Cleaning, sterilizing, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment.
- Checking laboratory inventory, as needed.
Required/Preferred skills:
- A BA degree or higher in molecular biology is required
- 2+ years PCR related bench experience.
- Proven experience working as a Lab Technician
- Strong pipetting skills and molecular biology techniques
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure—deadline driven
- Ability to recognize trends and to remain focused and observant
- Superb dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Keen attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Extensive knowledge of MS Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
