Information Technology Specialist – Level II IT Technician – Managed Service Provider – REMOTE – Stable, 20-Year-Old Company

This firm is seeking an experienced IT Technician to provide remote and in-person services to companies of all sizes and from many industries. You will deal with a wide range of technologies and environments in a fast-paced and rewarding position. This is a remote role, but you will travel to client sites occasionally and must live within a 30-minute radius of downtown Los Angeles.

Role Summary

* Full-time, W-2 individual contributor role, working from your home office in the L.A. / SoCal area.

* $80k to $100k base, commensurate with experience level and prior earnings.

Linear B is seeking a Senior / Level II IT Technician to be responsible for a variety of complex technical work for on-premise and cloud-based services. The IT Technician will also assist with day-to-day IT operations and oversight of the various services provided by the Managed Services Support team, which include general Network Administration, Security Management, Network Design and Implementation, Cloud Services Management, Tier II End User Support, Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation, Hardware and Software troubleshooting and problem diagnosis.

This person will work with minimal supervision and report to the company president.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills, ability to compose technical instructions, proposals, and documentation.

Fluent in English is mandatory. Functional ability in Spanish and/or Mandarin Chinese is helpful.

Ability to work without constant direct supervision. Willingness to take the initiative to determine what needs to be done and tackle it without being told.

Willingness and ability to pursue higher levels of technical knowledge and certification.

Required: at least 2 years of experience with an IT Managed Services Provider (MSP), and/or comparable experience.

Located within a 30-mile radius of downtown Los Angeles.

Willingness to maintain professional business casual attire when interfacing with customers.

Ability to work from home approximately three out of five days each week. Ability to travel to clients anywhere in the greater Los Angeles area as needed, one or two days a week.

Reliable transportation and a clean driving record. Vehicle must be capable of carrying modest amounts of computer equipment, and some tools. Transportation costs are reimbursed.

Suitable home office with a dedicated space. Space must be quiet and available at any time, day or night, without interrupting others or being interrupted.

You will be on the phone with customers often and will occasionally need to perform remote project work in the evenings.

Fiber or cable high-speed internet connection is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assume end-to-end ownership of customer support requests

Perform hardware and software troubleshooting and diagnosis and Tier II support

Design and deploy Microsoft Active Directory networks, configure Sites, Group Policies, Manage security, permissions, logon scripts, etc.

Perform routine maintenance tasks on Servers and Workstations to include utilizing remote monitoring and management software.

Manage Microsoft 365: New users, mailboxes, Azure AD, synchronization, etc.

Configure and install server hardware with VMWare vSphere ESXi and vCenter Server

Manage virtual environment: create VMs, P2V and V2V migrations, etc.

Configure, deploy, and manage perimeter security appliances (Sonicwall firewall / VPN)

Configure and install network switches to include configure VLANS for voice and network segmentation

Configure and install Meraki infrastructure wireless equipment

Configure and Manage Unitrends Enterprise backup

Assist clients with technical compliance management HIPAA, PCI etc.

Design backup strategy and lend assistance with disaster planning and recovery plan.

Provide vendor coordination and interface with outside telecom, Internet, and hardware/software vendors on behalf of clients.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Required: In-depth knowledge of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN, OSI Model, ports, etc.

Required: 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Active Directory, including experience designing an Active Directory network for multiple locations. Knowledge of configuring, Microsoft, DNS, DHCP, and group policy.

Required: Experience installing, configuring, and managing VMWare vSphere.

Required: Experience with migration and management of Microsoft 365.

Required: 3+ years of experience installing and configuring Microsoft Windows servers and the Windows desktop operating system.

Preferred: Experience installing and managing Sonicwall firewall / VPN Appliances

Preferred experience with Meraki wireless equipment and cloud management

Preferred: Experience with Kaseya RMM software, ConnectWise ScreenConnect, and IT Glue

Preferred: Experience configuring and installing Mac OS and related products

Preferred: Experience with Linux Operating System

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university with three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or six (6) years of related experience or training.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical documentation.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, co-workers, and vendors.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.

Ability to quickly assess the urgency and criticality of a situation and prioritize accordingly.

Certificates/Licenses:

Preferred: Legacy Microsoft MCSA, MCSE (2008 or later), Microsoft Certified Professional (Networking Fundamentals), or the new Microsoft Certified Certifications related to Infrastructure, Security, or 365.

Preferred: CompTIA Network+

Preferred: SonicWall Network Security Administrator (SNSA)

Preferred: VMware Certified Professional
