HVAC Mechanic (Relocation Provided)

**Job Overview:*******Relocation Provided******Located at Ft. Irwin in California, the HVAC Mechanic troubleshoots, installs, services, and repairs air conditioning, heating systems, and electronic control systems in residences and offices. Installs and services condensing and combination units on both ground level and rooftops. Fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and plenums. Installs evaporator units in chassis or in air duct systems. Troubleshoots and services compressors, temperature controls, and circulating ventilation fans from control panels to power sources. Tests joints and connections for refrigerant leaks. Observes pressure gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation. Replaces defective controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units. Performs preventative maintenance on all heating and ventilation equipment to include A/C units, furnaces operated on LPG, and evaporative condensers. May install, repair, and service air conditioners and evaporative systems found in Family Housing units.**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:**+ Perform preventative maintenance on air conditioning, heating, and environmental control equipment.+ Perform corrective repairs on air conditioning, heating, and environmental control equipment.+ Perform troubleshooting on air conditioning units up to 25 tons.+ Participation in HDSS Mechanic Certification programs.+ Participation in functional specific safety training that will permit working safely.+ Perform duties in lower related job classification.+ Supplementary Functions May Include:+ Participation in functional specific safety training that will permit working safely.+ Ability to identify location of required parts and materials.+ Communication with customers to identify specific and general requirements and to complete+ service order paperwork to include documentation of all work performed.+ Housekeeping — cleaning office and shop areas.+ Perform duties in lower job classifications.**Basic Qualifications:**+ Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.Experience:+ Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.+ Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.+ Physical/Mental Abilities Required:+ Ability to use technical bulletins or manufacturers’ specifications while performing maintenance, troubleshooting, or corrective repairs to HVAC systems.+ Ability to accurately read measuring devices, testing equipment, or instruments.+ Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions.+ Ability to be punctual.+ Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.**Equipment/Tools Used:**Mechanics and carpenter’s tools and equipment, including precision measuring tools, power tools, volt/ohm meters, and other electronic measuring and testing instruments.**License & Certifications:**Applicant must have had EPA certification for a minimum of six (6) years. Applicant must be able to demonstrate 6 years full time experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, repair; or successful completion of HVAC trade school plus one (1) full year’s actual experience.APTIM strongly recommends, but does not require, that its employees receive vaccination against COVID-19.
