Harris Group is seeking a Mechanical or Process Engineer to join our team in Thousand Oaks, CA for short-term project in the biotech industry.
Working with the Life Sciences group, the successful candidates will be a self starter with a strong work ethic and the desire to gain relevant work experience.
This is an hourly appointment based on project needs.
Initial expectation of project duration 6 months with the possibility to extend.
The RoleIn the role of Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for providing professional engineering expertise to our industrial projects that seek to positively impact both the community and the environment.
You will have the opportunity to work on innovative designs for industrial facilities and will see diverse projects through development, detailed design and construction support.
You will work on a project within life sciences (biopharmaceutical), laboratories (HVAC, Piping), and industrial manufacturing.
The ResponsibilitiesServe as a technical resource on complex designs and advance engineering theories, concepts, principles, and processesPerform mechanical design, working with other members of the mechanical staff, and coordinate with other disciplines on specific projects.Prepare design calculations and documentation that support the project design basis.Prepare mechanical drawings, through the use of designers or drafters, and develop specifications.Coordinate design with vendor supplied equipmentPrepare equipment layouts and general arrangements.
The RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience preferred.Working knowledge of mechanical engineering techniques commonly used in industrial capital projects.Familiarity with process system design and equipment including pumps, fans, heat exchangers, cooling towers, boilers, chillers, conveyors and air handlers is also important.Ability to identify, interpret and apply relevant codes and standards to engineering designs.Proficient with MSOffice suite.Experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx, or Revit, a plus.Knowledge of Caesar (preferred) or Autopipe pipe stress software, desired.Knowledge of PIPE-FLO preferred.Ability and willingness to travel to Thousand Oaks Daily will be required.
