Electronics Technician (EMI)

THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE UP TO 70% TRAVEL AND IS LOCATED AT NTS PITTSFIELD
– LIGHTNING TESTING CENTER OF EXCELLENCE POSITION SUMMARY: Perform EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) tests and measurements of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and subsystems using standard and precision measurement instrumentation for the EMI department.

EMI: Electromagnetic Interference tests/measurements of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and subsystems using standard and precision measurement instrumentation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Test Setup
– Read specifications from technical documents (Test Standards, Customer SOWs, and Test Plans/Procedures), identify/prepare test equipment
• Perform Testing
– Monitor tests per specifications, interact with customers if needed, troubleshoot, and document all pertinent data
• Data Processing
– After test completion, verify, review and document all pertinent data.

Finalize data and send to the Program Manager
• Lab Maintenance / Post-Test Breakdown
– Physically remove test items.

Maintain lab by cleaning all equipment, keeping calibrated instruments current, & organizing supplies
• Other
– Perform other duties as assigned CORE REQUIREMENTS:
• Under General supervision; can perform certain recurring work independently
• Regular interaction with clients
• Intermediate interpretation and analysis of test results
• Able to troubleshoot and rework standard tests
• Advanced understanding of DMM, Oscilloscope, power supplies; understanding of RF measurement techniques and the use of various RF measurement instruments (specifically Spectrum Analyzers, EMI Receivers, Network Analyzers, EMI receivers, Power Meters); working knowledge of basic safety practices
• Able to use all standard EMI equipment; able to accurately capture necessary data; able to use TILE (Total Integrated Laboratory Environment) test software; able to construct AC/DC circuits; basic MS Office skills MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• HS Diploma or GED.

Technical Certification, AA or AS in Electronics/Electrical preferred.

• 2-6 Years of experience WORKING CONDITIONS: Test lab with exposure to sudden, loud noises PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
