The Custodial Technician is responsible for cleaning office and public spaces at the Zoo.

Must be able to work mornings, weekends and holidays.

The work schedule is Sunday-Thursday 5 AM
– 1:30 PM.

Candidates should have previous work experience in environmental service (EVS) /housekeeping/custodial.

There is no direct contact with animals.

If you are a like-minded individual and thrive in a dynamic, fast paces and innovative culture, Denver Zoo is the place for you Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform daily tasks that include cleaning and sanitizing of all assigned cleanable surfaces including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, polishing floor surfacing and emptying waste for offices and facilities on a daily basis.

Properly disinfect and clean high use areas daily, including but not limited to restrooms and kitchens.

And various surface areas throughout the Zoo grounds, including indoor and outdoors areas.

Clean biohazard waste using the proper PPE.

Pick up litter and debris throughout the zoo.

Cultivate and maintain a positive working environment.

Effectively interacts and communicates with guests, senior staff, employees, volunteers, contracted vendors, and various groups.

Participate in snow removal operations and is available to work a variable schedule, including early hours, weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays as an on-call status for snow removal.

Operate light equipment used for minor and major projects.

Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment.

Properly cleans and maintains equipment.

Follows procedures for storage and disposal of trash and transports it to designated areas.

Reports maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.

Properly secure all doors within the assigned area.

Replenish disposable products such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.

Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications Work experience as custodian/ janitor or a similar role.

Working knowledge of industry equipment and how to maintain facilities.

Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Skill in understanding and following oral, illustrated, written or demonstrated instructions.

Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.

Must be able to work weekends, holidays and some evenings.

Ability to follow all Denver Zoo safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Ability to care for and properly maintain Denver Zoo property.

Position Conditions Ability to pass a physical examination, background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work mornings, weekends and holidays.

Compensation Hourly rate is: $16.00 Benefits This is a full-time position with excellent benefits including medical, dental and vision benefits; life insurance; short term and long-term disability; 403(b) retirement plan; and vacation and sick leave.
