Job Purpose SummaryThe Boiler Maintenance Mechanic is a member of the Maintenance Team reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager/Supervisors/Shift Leaders.

The maintenance mechanic ensures operation of boiler production machinery and mechanical equipment by preforming repairs and preventive maintenance in an effective, efficient and safe manner.Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Maintain/repair/troubleshoot plant boilers (low pressure/high pressure/steam generator), deaerators and associated boiler system equipment.Disassemble/reassemble boilers for annual 3rd party regulatory inspections.Maintain pumps, motors, valves and system controls.Take, complete and adjust water analyses.Take gas analyses and tune boilers to highest efficiency/NOX requirements.Start, stop, test, time, adjust, operate and repair/maintain equipment/machinery; including the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.Read sketches, prints, and operating instructions and proceed accordingly to construct, install, repair, and maintain all processing equipment.

boiler etc.).Lubricate, clean and paint equipment as needed.Maintain simple operating and maintenance records, as well as required boiler logs.Consult with supervision on needed repairs or changes.Operate and maintain water softening and water treatment equipment.Balances steam and water flows.Responsible for maintenance and operating of the compressed air generation.May repair or replace steam and water valves/steam traps throughout the plant.Check materials and parts.

Make appropriate requisitions.

Order maintenance and repair supplies and materials used in mechanical work in department).Perform compression and safety tests.Perform other duties as assigned.Weld, including Heliarc and Stainless Steel.May assist other mechanics in General Maintenance, not department specific.Observe all company’s safety rules, policies and procedures.Shall perform all duties in compliance with customer, 3rd party, regulatory, and company food safety and quality initiatives and standards.Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness.Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery.Work effectively with other team members in a loud environment.Perform lockout-tag out proceduresMaintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.Good oral and written communication skills.Capability to work in an unsupervised position effectively.Capability to read and interpret technical documents, such as: OEM Maintenance plans, Blue prints and Software system instructions.Capability to perform basic mathematical functionsCapability to operate software based programs for receiving, performing, and completing Work Orders.Have a strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and circulating systems operation, contamination control and maintenance functions.Should be qualified to operate lifting equipment (Fork Truck, Ariel lift, Etc.)Demonstrated initiative and strong work habits.Knowledge of bearings, gears, greases, seals, vents, breathers, filtration and power transmissions components.Knowledge of lubrication applications, operating principles and best practices.Food Manufacturing experience is a plus.Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience.Ability to safety use hand and power tools.Ability to act competently in emergencies.Organized and detail-oriented and able to multi-task.Must be able to read/write EnglishPosition Requirements: Have the ability to climb stairs and ladders.Able to work in all weather conditions.Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.Must be willing and able to work overtime hours during the week, weekends and/or holidays as required.Must be able to read/write English.Must be able to clearly communicate to co-workers and management.
