VP Marketing

This role will report to the Co-Founder/COO and have the mandate to accelerate our product-led growth flywheel, with initial focus on increased demand generation efforts at the top of the funnel. To date, our growth has been driven by strong product-market fit, vocal teacher champions, and viral adoption from single teachers to teams to schools to districts. You will inherit a mighty marketing team of one and be responsible for setting marketing strategy, building your team, and driving profitable growth.

  • Team & Budget Management. Build and develop a high-performance marketing organization that is focused on connecting with K-12 teachers and accelerating growth. You’ll be primarily responsible for the individual teacher free-to-paid motion and deploying budget efficiently.
  • Demand Generation. We have a unique and successful GTM that relies on a healthy base of free users evangelizing the product and impact through their school. You will define KPIs, further instrument the funnel, scale what’s working, hire appropriately and use a data-driven process to identify and iterate on what’s next.
  • Community & Customer Marketing. Teachers are heroes, and Company helps them do heroic things. We have a variety of initiatives (such as a certification program, social media chats, Webinar series and a content library) dedicated to amplifying their voices, building trust, and increasing virality. You’ll own these and make them sing even louder.
  • Content & Communications. Work closely with the founders, teacher community, customer success, and sales team to develop a content & communications strategy that drives top-of-funnel awareness, conversion, and product adoption. We see potential untapped opportunities in content marketing, PR and influencer marketing.
  • Product Marketing. Identify the highest-value areas for marketing to support sales, customer success and product management. Assist with sales enablement, feature launch plans and client communication to drive enterprise sales, expansion and retention.

Requirements

  • Proven Results. We think experience is best measured in results and intensity (not years), but you need to have been in the high-velocity SaaS or PLG marketing world awhile. You also need to have meaningful experience growing at least a few acquisition sources from scratch and building a team. We’re thinking 7+ years.
  • Data Driven. Data may not tell the whole story, but it’s critical to decision making and efficient budget allocation. Clean data and funnel analytics are your best friends that you can call anytime to validate assumptions and drive results within a defined framework.
  • Team Builder, Leader & Collaborator. Leadership is a calling for you and you know how to hire and inspire employees of all types. You possess empathy for each of your team members, but hold them, and yourself, to the highest standards.
  • Efficient Executer. Simply put, you get it done, and done well. You’re organized, prioritized and agile, and you can teach your team how to do the same for themselves—even in a remote setting. You have a track record of accomplishments that demonstrate this.
  • Heavy Toolbelt. You know your way around Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, HubSpot (ideally), website optimization tools and content management systems. You understand how they work in detail, and can show the team a thing or two.
