SVP Marketing

In this dynamic, fast-moving role, you will need to apply strong self-organization and time management skills while demonstrating pro-active initiation and follow through on a broad range of actions. The ideal candidate possesses a firm working knowledge of music industry marketing, promotions, and commerce as well as strong knowledge of Hip-Hop, lifestyle & culture and brings a creative sensibility to marketing.

How you’ll CREATE:

  • Oversee creation, implementation, and execution of artist marketing strategies with primary focus on Hip-Hop and R&B genres
  • Manage and lead team marketing managers and broader marketing staff, and help them to develop appropriate artist development and release campaign strategies for artists and projects
  • Set the overall strategy for projects, in tandem with Marketing lead, and ensure that all departments and third-party resources are working together to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the plan.
  • The role should focus on formulating strategy through targeted fan segmentation, creating demand in the marketplace and driving release campaign activities
  • Work closely with A&R and Creative teams to establish and translate artist’s creative vision and approach to the broader company and ultimately to global markets
  • Work collaboratively with A&R, Creative, and artist/management to identify and establish the artist proposition, campaign narratives and appropriate goals, objectives and KPI’s for each project
  • Conduct and lead marketing meetings for Hip Hop and R&B Projects as appropriate
  • Work with Finance and senior leadership to establish and oversee appropriate marketing and promotion budgets for each artist and project.
  • Work with the research and analysis group to gain artist insights and to identify target audiences with which to build marketing plans for each audience segment and in each phase of an artist’s career.
  • Integrate data and analytics into the culture of the marketing team to ensure KPIs are consistently set and measured and to ensure data is integrated into the decision-making process.
  • Work collaboratively with digital marketing to ensure day to day fan engagement activities are appropriate and driving to build audiences and drive consistent engagement.
  • Partner and collaborate closely with the commercial team to develop revenue opportunities and ensure our marketing strategies are relevant and applicable to each account.
  • Collaborate with each department to articulate the overall project objectives and solicit department plans that support these objectives for each artist phase and releases.
  • Ensure all elements of the plan from each department come together in a timely manner and in connection with the overall goals and objectives.
  • Participate and contribute ideas that assist the senior leadership team in overall company strategies and goals
  • Participate in artist signing meetings to help attract new Hip Hop and R&B artists to label when needed

Bring Your VIBE:

  • This position requires dedicated marketing experience and knowledge of the Hip Hop, R&B, and Rhythmic Pop genres
  • 10+ years of music industry marketing experience within the Hip-Hop/R&B space
  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing, related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • General knowledge of all departments within a label, including digital, publicity, A&R, creative, production and promotion
  • Organize, prioritize, and execute a wide range of tasks with heavy workloads and tight deadlines
  • Strong teamwork skills and communication abilities with the ability to write and convey marketing plans/efforts to executives and management
  • Must be innovative with a high degree of energy, flexibility, and creativity
  • Must be adaptable and ability to establish good relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word
