More than 463 million patients worldwide suffer from diabetes and this is expected to reach close to 600 million in 10 years.

The diabetes device industry is unique in that technologies available to monitor and manage diabetes are starting to converge with consumer electronics technology.

As such, the decision dynamics are evolving: patients have a stronger voice in therapy choice, care is transitioning away from specialists, the role of artificial intelligence is elevating care, and the rise of the Pharmacy channel is disrupting our traditional strength in Durable Medical Equipment (DME).

We are seeking a dynamic, competitive and clinically savvy marketing professional to join Value and Access Marketing within the US Diabetes Commercial team.

The Principal Market Access Specialist, within US Commercial Enablement, will be responsible for the execution of channel marketing strategies and the development and implementation of product value propositions to optimize market access for the portfolio of Medtronic Diabetes technology products. 

The US Commercial Enablement organization supports the success of the US Sales Organization through the execution of its commercial strategy.

As the Principal Market Access Specialist, you will be responsible for executing sales enablement activities tied to Medtronic Diabetes Payer, Government, Pharmacy, and Distributor channels (collectively, “market channels”) by partnering closely with Strategic Channels, Health Plan Solutions, HEOR, Global Downstream Marketing, US Market Insights and Business Analytics, Finance and the Clinical team.

You will drive execution of the channel access strategy, including creation of value messaging and marketing collateral and support of the market channels team, to optimize market access throughout the lifecycle of the Diabetes product portfolio.

Medtronic Diabetes is headquartered in Northridge, CA, however this role is open to remote within the continental United States for well qualified candidates.
A Day in the Life
Develops and implements designated channel (e.g., payer, pharmacy, government) strategies, messages, and tools / tactics to enhance channel success to support Medtronic’s Diabetes technology portfolio Supports value proposition development for overall Payer and Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) account management by leveraging an understanding of the US healthcare stakeholders and industry reimbursement mechanisms Understands the evolution, and tracks reimbursement and coverage trends, in the managed care, pharmacy/PBM, and distributor space Accelerates market access strategy, resourcing and messaging for revenue growth by integrating with Diabetes Americas and HEOR Executes pull-through initiatives (tools, resources, and communications) to help field sales maximize access-driven opportunities for our products Manage and create channel-specific marketing collateral to enable successful product coverage Incorporates an understanding of coverage, coding, and reimbursement for Medtronic Diabetes products and competitor products into marketing tactics Travel approximately 20%
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, these minimum qualifications must be evident on your resume
Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years’ experience in healthcare related marketing, account management, consulting, strategy, market access, program or product management or sales, OR a Masters’ degree with at least 5 years’. 

Nice to Have
Experience in Medical Device/Biotech/Pharma or managed care industries  Experience in the sales/account management and/or marketing and strategy Previous product launch and downstream marketing experience Familiarity of pharmacy and PBM space, including launching products to payers Strong communication, interpersonal skills, time management and team building skills Ability to partner with and influence stakeholders across the matrix Experience building rapport with sales reps and sales leadership  Experience interacting with and building relationships with KOLs and Key Customers Able to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities Familiarity or interest in coverage and reimbursement topics and trends, including payer and pharmacy contracting dynamics
