The Media Buyer assists in the development, execution and evaluation of traditional and digital marketing initiatives for clients in response to their requirements, budgets, and objectives.
The Media Buyer is an integral part of the media department, which consists of all paid media.
The Media Buyer will support the Media Director through the management and reporting of approved media plans, both traditional and digital.
The Media Buyer must have a strong understanding of media metrics and will be expected to establish and maintain appropriate media strategies and budgets for clients, analyze research data and assist in monthly campaign reporting.
Media Buyer Responsibilities and Duties: Participate in media buying/planning for strategy meetings.
Maintain campaigns and budgets for client portfolios.
Assist in research for media planning, including: calling publications and other media to obtain information, requesting and reviewing media kits, meeting with media representatives one-on-one, obtaining industry-specific information from trade associations.
Work with planning team in areas of market conditions and rate expectations.
Negotiate in good faith on behalf of Grapevine Designs and our clients, including negotiating the best possible rates and taking advantage of value-added requests and promotional opportunities.
Establish strong, professional working relationships with media supplier base.
Make timely placement of all media buys according to schedule.
Issue insertion orders for all media buys approved by client.
Keep track of all sent orders/revisions/cancellations.
Analyze research data and assist in monthly campaign reporting.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Media Studies, or Communications.
3-5 years of experience in media buying or related agency experience.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Experience with the following or similar tools or platforms: Office Suite Traditional Media planning and buying tools Nielsen Planning Tools: Plan, Commspoint Media Tools/SQAD Strata Third Party Ad Serving Tools: DoubleClick Campaign Manager (Google Ads Manager) Google Analytics Google Adwords Understanding of placement, trafficking, and post-buy analytics.
Detail-oriented with a strong aptitude for math.
Must have polished presentation skills.
Must be a self-starter and be able to work autonomously.
Ability to multitask and be a team player in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, particularly in Excel and Google Sheets.
