Media Buyer, Digital

Overview: Plans and negotiates Digital media while creating leverage and increasing the overall profitability of assigned buys.

Responsibilities: Analyzes media plans to determine which would most effectively reach target audience and increase Active’s profitability.

Manages the RFP (Request for Proposal) process; Creates, coordinates, and distributes RFP to vendor consideration list.

Analyzes market requests and creates detailed POVs (Points of Views) for assigned markets.Oversees ordering process workflow performed by Media Assistants; ensures accurate and timely media authorizations/vendor contracts/creative summary sheets are issued to clients.Assists in pitching new business.Monitors media agreements and contracts with outside media vendors and ensures accuracy.

Monitors media and resolves any placement discrepancies; negotiates make goods or credit adjustments when necessary.

Manages inventory banks and initiates new trade opportunities.Develops and maintains relationships with clients and vendors.Maintains and negotiates assigned accounts.Interacts with clients, media vendors, and account managers regarding account pitches, status, and negotiations.

Interacts with various Active departments as needed (i.e.

Liaises with Client Development on assigned accounts and with the Billing department on discrepant invoices).

Coordinates ordering process with Sales and Credit departments for client approvals including issuing Media Authorizations to clients for sign off and securing contracts with media vendors.

Executes rate negotiations while securing Digital inventory and works on various client requests.Oversees and leverages P (Profit and Loss) spreads on assigned accounts; Generates P statements; Tracks expenditures to ensure compliance with budget.

Keeps abreast on and maintains full working knowledge of proprietary software applications (i.e., POWS/Spectra and CMS).

Schedules client, agency, and media vendor meetings with appropriate manager.

Attends and participates in meetings as needed.Performs ad hoc projects as needed.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is requiredMinimum requirement of three years of Digital Media buying experienceProficiency in proprietary applications including CMS and Spectra a plusProficiency in the following media applications/tools required: Adspender, DoubleClick’s DART ad serving system and Nielsen’s analytical tools (i.e., Plan and WebR)Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel requiredIntermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word requiredProficiency in PowerPoint, a plus TravelUp to 10% regularly scheduled travel is required for this position.
