The School of Education and Human Development has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Marketing Specialist to work the Coral Gables Campus.

The Marketing Specialist develops and manages all marketing and communication projects involving writing, graphic design and other forms of digital and print output to effectively promote the School, its programs and strengthen its brand and presence through stories, print and online materials.

The incumbent for this position delegates and supervises the work performed by student staff, vendors, and contractors as well as assesses the results/success of all marketing and communication efforts.

This position is responsible for all internal and external marketing communications, publications, and collateral/deliverables, including the maintenance of websites, e-newsletters, digital signage, social media, and other related marketing/communication channels.

Marketing Specialist works closely with the Director of Communications.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Develops and manages all marketing and communication materials for the School of Education and Human Development and its units Maintains familiarity with all departmental programs and services, and updates all communication resources accordingly Serves as writer/editor for all school/departmental print and electronic materials, including articles, newsletters, communications, publications, eCane newsletter, brochures, invitations, programs, banners, promotional material, advertisement, and other print/digital materials At times, serves as graphic designer for print and electronic materials, including webpages, brochures, flyers, logos, signs, advertisements, and other deliverables Supervises and delegates tasks to student employees Creates and/or solicits stories and posts for departmental webpages and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.); writes and posts stories and photos Oversees, writes, edits and compiles content for social media channels Works in collaboration with stakeholders, faculty/staff to obtain information, content, photos, videos, to update departments’ and school’s website, create content, write stories Develops marketing messaging and promotional campaigns for the organization Evaluates the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, projects, and social media channels against key performance indicators (KPIs) Runs analytics, generate and manage monthly and/or quarterly reports on promotional campaign results, open rates, social media reach, etc Coordinates, assists with, and attends special events and community outreach projects designed to increase awareness of the department, division and/or programs, and utilization of services.

Maintains master content and events calendar and assists events logistics (in-person/virtual, webinars, exhibits, and presentations), but not limited to, vendor and budget management, invitation development and deployment and scheduling Oversees the file/asset management of promotional/communication materials, including design files, informational/background files, subject and source files, content and media libraries (video/photo files) Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field Certification and Licensing: Not Applicable Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form Copywriting and copy-editing skills Knowledge of and experience with social media planning and management systems General skills in graphic design with working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom) preferred, Canva a plus Strong typography skills with understanding of composition and color Project management experience a plus Excellent time management skills Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities required Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships Ability to understand and follow instructions The University of Miami is an Equal Opportunity Employer
