Job Summary: The Aviation Tool & Die Maker constructs and repairs jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, or metal dies or molds used in shaping or forming metal or nonmetallic material (e.g.

plastic, plaster, rubber, glass).Plan and lay out work according to models, blueprints, drawings, or other written or oral specifications.Select and use appropriate materials, tools, and processes required to complete tasks based on understanding of the working properties of common metals and alloys.Knowledge of the working properties of the common metals, selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work.Basic knowledge of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications (i.e.

Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).Ability to communicate effectively and work well as a member of a team.

Ability to conduct oneself professionally through appearance and conduct.Work experience with CNC software and programming, determining correct machine setup, understanding blueprints and detail fabrication tolerances, able to evaluate product quality.Make necessary shop computations.Set up and operate various machine tools and related equipment.Using various Tool and Die Maker’s hand tools and precision measuring instrument, work to very close tolerances, heat-treating metal parts and finished tools and dies to achieve required qualities, and fitting and assembling parts to prescribed tolerances and allowances.

Perform additional duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements: Minimum of Five (5) years of work experience.

Minimum of Four (4) years recent experience related to Tool & Die MakingRequires training in machine shop and tool room practices including courses such as blueprint reading, technical drafting, metalworking, or machine tooling; usually acquired through formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience; a certificate program from trade, vocational school or equivalent is acceptable.Shall have higher education to include courses such as blueprint reading, technical drafting, metalworking, or machine tooling.

Previous aviation experience on fabrication of aircraft critical structural components.US CitizenAbility to obtain/maintain Security Clearance (NAC-I T1) Preferred Qualifications: Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and software applications.

Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.

Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.

Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.

Must be able to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.

Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

Must be able to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.

Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants.

Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).May work in warehouse or outside where it is drafty, noisy, and dirty.

May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
