Apply Job Type Full-time Description Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment at all parish facilities and properties, to include minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting.
Must be able to assist with some janitorial duties as assigned.
The General Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of parish grounds and buildings, which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered grounds keeping equipment and machines.
The General Maintenance Worker changes light bulbs, paints walls, woodwork, furniture and equipment, makes minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs, delivers supplies, materials and equipment as needed.
Job Responsibilities (Not Exhaustive) Perform repairs or general maintenance including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, glazier, masonry and some janitorial.
Use of tools ranging from common hand, dollies and hand trucks as well as power tools such as hammers, hoist, saws, drills and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Moves and assists in transporting furniture and delivery of items to and from various facilities/sites.
Maintains security of campus buildings including checking, opening, closing and locking doors and windows.
Performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance and alterations of landscape areas: mow, weed, trim grass and shrubs, minor tree trimming and haul off, check and maintain irrigation (sprinkler) system.
Prepares, sets up and breaks down meeting room set up per work order request to include tables, chairs and meeting equipment.
Other as directed by the pastor or facilities manager.
Physical Demands/Work Environment Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch/crawl.
The employee is occasionally required to sit.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move 25-50 pound.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet and/or hot, humid; high places; and work with various chemicals.
Working Situations: Requires some variable hours and on call response after regular business hours to meet the needs of the parish.
Requires some weekend, holiday and evening work for events or the ability to arrange coverage.
These times include but are not limited to Christmas season, Holy Week/Easter, fundraisers, after Mass functions, etc.
Local travel for business purposes will be required.

Prior building maintenance experience.

Education The applicant should possess any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the function of the job.
A high school diploma is required.
