Interim Director of Communications

(www.scionstaffing.com), a full-service national staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct a search for an Interim Director of Communications on behalf of an established philanthropic association dedicated to developing leadership opportunities for diverse and skilled professionals and organizations.

This is a very exciting role with a collaborative and passionate team on a fully remote basis Our client is based in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities Develop and lead a communications and public relations plan that aligns with the organizational goals.

Support digital program strategies and initiatives by effectively utilizing social media.

Promote organizational DEI efforts on all communication platforms and material.

Manage all aspects of internal and external content needs, including website content, press releases, media advisories, one-pagers, talking points, blogs, newsletters, annual reports, white papers, videos, special events, and campaigns, and publication projects.

Manage and leverage existing and new relationship with external media stakeholders.

Collaborate with other departments in supporting the development and implementation of a communications and marketing strategy for organizational programs and services.

Develop talking points, FAQs, and other materials as needed to prepare President & CEO for external communications and speaking engagements.

Monitor online news and social media for breaking stories, developments in or related to philanthropy and provide regular updates to team.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; Relevant advanced degree preferred 7-10 years’ experience communications and public relations Strong understanding of the philanthropic and the charitable sector The ability to work effectively from home Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Experience working with Google Suite and Microsoft Office suite; comfortable learning new software systems quickly Acute attention to detail Ability to adapt to change quickly Comfortable working with tight deadlines Ability to be proactive and anticipate needs Compensation This position offers competitive pay of $55-$70/hr.
