We go above and beyond to ensure that every youth that walks through our doors has a world class club experience that provides them with the opportunity for a GREAT FUTURE The primary function of the Food Service Assistant is to work as a team member in the Boys & Girls Club Food Service Operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Expected to work harmoniously with workforce teens, staff and fellow workers and provide friendly food service to participants.

Follows proper sanitation practices such as daily cleaning and proper storage to include sweeping, mopping, sanitizing counters, and cleaning food preparation equipment.

Removes empty boxes and trash throughout shift.

Also follows the clean-as-you-go practice and is present when the kitchen is inspected.

Ensures food is stored properly and not left out to reach improper temperatures, prevents cross contamination of foods, and ensures a safe kitchen for the workforce teens and staff.

Cleans kitchen equipment.

Follows daily and weekly cleaning schedule for all equipment and ensures equipment is in proper working order.

Meets the local Health Department standards on personal hygiene (grooming) and adheres to the infection control policy on sickness.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Actively participate in mandatory Boys & Girls Club trainings and All Staff meetings Occasionally may be required to work special events promoted by the organization during evenings and/or weekends.

Completes any additional assignments as requested by Food Service Manager QUALIFICATIONS BACKGROUND SCREENING Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families.

CERTIFICATIONS ServSafe Manager Food Safety Certification required; OR
– must obtain ServSafe Certification within three (3) months of employment EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED equivalent required Six (6) months food service experience.

Valid Florida driver’s license required SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Follow policies, procedures and rules of the organization.

Effective communication skills Detail oriented Ability to work at a fast pace and stand for long periods of time.

Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once TRAVEL Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes.

WORKING CONDITIONS Fast paced work environment; flexibility to working schedules may be required due to changing business demands.

General office conditions is the standard work environment (standing, sitting, and walking).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, stooping/kneeling, reaching with hands and arms, and finger dexterity.

This position requires extended talking, listening, and sitting, walking, and standing; regularly lifting up to 50 pounds.

Daily operation of personal motor vehicle may be needed to carry out job duties for this position.
