EXPERIENCED FOOD SERVICE WORKERS
Job Summary:
The Food Preparation Worker will perform routine tasks necessary to prepare cold items, salads, coffees and teas, and ingredients for more complex dishes.
In addition, they will efficiently prepare and cook food in a kitchen setting.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
Adheres to all food handling and safety regulations throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
Arranges prepared food on serving trays or in designated area for retrieval by serving staff.
Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains cleanliness of work areas, surfaces, utensils, equipment, and dishes.
Combines salad ingredients.
Cuts, weighs, or measures ingredients according to provided instructions.
Ensures tables are adequately stocked.
Maintains and cleans salad bars and buffets.
Maintains overall sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards for food preparation areas, cooking services, and dishes and utensils.
Monitors the temperature of food and food storage areas.
Multitasks by cooking several different orders at once, ensuring that all items are prepared in accordance with customer instructions.
Operates large-volume cooking equipment such as griddles, grills, or deep fryers.
Prepares and cooks food according to instructions provided on food order slips or through verbal directions; verifies the quality and quantity of all orders.
Prepares batches of food that are cooked to order or kept warm until ordered and sold; this may include such food items as hamburgers or fried chicken.
Prepares meat, seafood, and poultry for cooking by cutting or grinding, as instructed.
Prepares vegetables to be used as condiments.
Prepares, washes, and cuts food to be cooked.
Prevents the spoilage of ingredients through proper storage in designated containers and in designated areas.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to follow safety rules and guidelines throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
Ability to listen and follow directions.
Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.
Ability to work efficiently and quickly.
Basic understanding of or ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
Basic understanding of or ability to learn food-handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work well as part of a team.
Must be able to work well under pressure.
Education and Experience:
Prior completion of food safety coursework preferred.
High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred.
1-3 years of experience in Food Service
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing.
Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at a time.
Compensation:
Pay for this position is between $17.00 and $19.00 per hour.
