For Victorian based employees, the compliance date is 26 November 2021.All other global Boeing locations do not have a vaccination requirement at this time.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Experienced Manufacturing Engineer Solar Panel/Array Process Engineer located in Sylmar, CA.

The selected candidate will be working on 2nd Shift (after an initial training period of 2 4 weeks on first shift).

As a member of our Manufacturing/Process Engineer team, you will have the opportunity to work on projects covering the entire range of Spectrolabs products: everything from large and small solar panels and arrays for a variety of space applications using the worlds most efficient space solar cells to small solar cell assemblies and airborne searchlight/gimbal systems and ground-based high-intensity illuminated test systems.

You will also have the opportunity to directly contribute to development programs and to help shape our next-generation improvements in product, process and tooling design.

Position Responsibilities Include:Develop and implement production processes and generates/maintains process documentation to ensure correct and consistent process application in productionDevelop and monitor SPC and process paretos to identify and correct process drift and identify and implement continuous improvements to product and processesLead and implement manufacturing plans and assists in developing and maintaining manufacturing training requirementsConduct producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirementsAssist in providing producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practicesAnalyze design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitionsResolve technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or scheduleSupport definition of required tooling methodologiesParticipate in gated process/product reviews and presents PFMECA and process/training readiness information to both internal and external customersIdentify leading edge technologies, materials or process improvements and targeted automation to improve ergonomics, safety, cost, and schedule The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3+ years of experience with Factory Automation business capabilities such as machine tool integration and/or fabrication3+ years of experience defining process flows, process diagrams, and process documentation1+ years of experience interfacing with databases using SQL or PL/SQLGeneral Array Integration and Test operations support Process trainer (maintain training record)Lead or participate in LEAN events (AIW, 3P etc.)Lead or participate in RCCA investigationFamiliarity with AS9100, NASA, AIAA, and other Aerospace standardsFamiliarity with wafer processing technologies (wet chemistry, photolithography, evaporative processing) Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.

Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.

PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
