We’re looking for a VP, Market Research & Insights to join our team in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago as part of our Consultancy function.
We are looking for a motivated and exceptional Vice President of Market Research and Insights, who is interested in leading the development of presentations, whitepapers and thought-pieces. Those designed to provide our clients and our robust network of brands, agencies, private equity firms, and media and technology companies with unique points of view on a variety of topics impacting both buy and sell sides today.
As the VP of Market Research and Insights, you will set the strategic approach to delivering on this work – working alongside some of the best operators in the industry. This position will dual report into both the Managing Director, Head of Client Service & Growth and Chief Brand Officer. This person will also work with and have exposure to the entire Executive Leadership Team and broader marketing and consulting organizations.
A high level of motivation and excellent communication skills are required to manage an incredibly diverse slate of client types, research topics and themes and senior leaders across the ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare company and industry/sector presentations for both internal and external use including supporting Company’s “State of the State” deck/materials creation
- Evaluate existing research tools and identify if any additional ones should be added, discontinued, etc.
- Examine market and industry trends, analyze the growth and development plans of key market players and help the organization develop unique points of view on where we believe “the puck is going” vs. where it is today
- Actively participate in business development efforts and meetings with existing clients
- Design and execute comprehensive research projects from beginning to end – developing a deep expertise across the media, technology and marketing eco-systems. Research that:
- Is both qualitative and quantitative in nature and,
- Uses a wide variety of research tools and methods
- Develop relationships and liaison with Ascential sister companies such as WARC, Lions, WGSN, Money2020, Flywheel, Edge and others
- Determine what research/data we already have internally vs. what is needed net new
- Contribute to annual or quarterly Ascential research inputs (e.g. WARC’s Marketers Toolkit)
Your Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA strongly preferred
- 7-10 years of relevant experience conducting research and relaying findings in succinct, concise manner with ability to identify key industry performances indicators, players and trendsetters
- An attention to detail, excellent writing/communication and presentation skills
- Ability to be resourceful and independently solve problems
- Strong PowerPoint skills and ability to create slides/graphs/charts that convey key research findings in compelling ways
