ROLE OVERVIEW
We’re looking for experienced professionals with expertise in complex software systems addressing biologics research and early development use cases (including ML/AI, drug discovery screening and analysis, and assays/analytics), who are eager to work directly with our customers and our engineering team to create impactful solutions that drive the biotech revolution.
Benchling has the unique potential to manage different modalities’ research and development on a single platform, giving companies a wholistic view into their science.
This role is a leadership opportunity that will significantly impact Benchling’s product direction, owning the success of our first customers in new markets and modalities.
This role will influence and advise across senior stakeholders at Benchling, including C-suite, spanning strategy, product, sales, and customer experience.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
• Operate as the senior expert in the company on biologics research and early development use cases
• Evangelize Benchling’s biologics research and development functional coverage and roadmap with internal stakeholders, prospects, and customers
• Work with engineers and product managers to plan, prioritize, and execute on launching new features to support the Early Development market and the changing Research market
• Interface deeply with customers at the cutting edge of biotechnology to understand their software systems and recommend how Benchling can help
• Develop pitches with Sales and Marketing that resonate in a market thats rapidly evolving
• Partner with Services and Customer Success to enable complex rollouts at large enterprise customers for early development teams and to advise on ongoing usage for large deploys to research teams
• Design and implement cloud-based integrations and extensions on top of the Benchling platform
• Participate and contribute to process, product, or best practices initiatives
ABOUT YOU
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or engineering. Advanced degree such as a Ph.D in life sciences preferred.
• 10-15+ years direct experience working with complex software in the life sciences R&D space, primarily in research and early development, with experience in ML/AI, drug discovery screening and analysis, and assays/analytics use cases.
• Ideally has worked in senior leadership positions such as a Research Advisor, Director, Senior Director, or similar in information technology, research and/or development, supporting target discovery, drug discovery and clinical development.
Expert on the science and the software tools used to enable it.
• Has coached implementation teams in the key pain points, implementation considerations and validated needs of early development teams.
• Excellent at listening to others and expressing ideas in written and oral form
• Great at empathizing with scientists and can quickly understand complicated scientific concepts
• Able to partner with sales and marketing on messaging, and with engineering and product to work through challenging technical problems
• Curious, creative, and tenacious.
Excited to collaborate with sales, product, and customers as a thought partner.
• Ability to travel 25-30%
