Activity 1: DataSUMMARYDoes skilled typing work and performs highly specialized clerical duties requiring a highly specialized knowledge of a particular function with responsibility for applying proper procedures and for carrying out the work with general direction.
• Candidates from outside of Los Angeles region are welcome to apply but must be available to work Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours
• Remote/on-site depending on work need and hiring manager’s discretion
• Standard work hours (40hours/week)This full-time benefitted position is grant funded through July 2022.Employment is provided by Heluna Health.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe duties of the Senior Typist Clerk include, but are not limited to:
• Reviews patient records, abstracts pertinent data, and prepares reports containing medical information for physicians, hospitals, and other agencies;
• Reviews work results for accuracy, adequacy, and appropriateness according to established policies, objectives, and work methods and refers only unusual inquiries to his immediate supervisor;
• Checks disease reports requiring the application of specialized knowledge in public health and medical terminology and the resolution of debatable points, and where a mistake in judgment may entail serious consequences;
• Reviews for accuracy and conformity to established procedures the work of others performing preliminary operations in the course of the flow of work;
• Complies with DPH training regarding confidential information related to personal information
• Accepts responsibility for other duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications
• Three years of office clerical experience involving typing, one year of which must have been in a specialized or supervisory capacity
• Typing skill: Ability to type at the rate of 40 net words per minuteDesirable Qualifications
• Experience in work requiring the use of the contents of medical records or reports and familiar with medical terminology.Licenses/Certificates/Clearances
• A valid California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
