Senior Research Associate – Ocular

The Ocular Senior Research Associate is responsible for the oversight and conduct of in-vivo studies involving the testing of pharmaceutical compounds and devices being developed for various ocular disorders.

Experience with ocular surgical, dosing and sampling techniques is required.

These studies are performed in rodents, rabbits, dogs, pigs.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Ocular Senior Research Associate will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:Handle, restrain, dose, and perform other procedures on study animals.Dose calculations and formulation preparationMonitor animal anesthesia and recovery.Perform clinical observations of animals.Observe, record, and report on findings during the course of a study.Participate in necropsies, specimen collection and processing for all speciesParticipate in preparation of study forms and supplies to ensure appropriate resource management.Review and submit raw data for QC and QA review and archiving, as applicable.Perform all procedures according to applicable SOPs and regulations (e.g.

USDA, FDA GLP).Perform other duties as directed by management.Experienced candidates may be designated as Principal Investigator for non-GLP studies.Requirements:Hands on in vivo experience with multiple species, at a minimum, rodent and rabbit.Experience with typical and atypical dosing routesExperience with necropsy, tissue collection and ocular dissection in multiple species.Ability to perform ocular injections, such as, sub-conjunctival, intravitreal, and/or subretinal injections a plus.Experience with various imaging modalities, such as, Optical coherence tomography, fundus photography, and/or fluorescein angiography a plusGLP experience preferred.Ability to perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as well as provide comprehensive, after-hours, and on-call coverage as needed.Education:Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 5 years’ experience in a lab setting is required.
