Research Associate II-Surgery

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and/or post-doctoral staff, you will perform in-person scientific work in a biomedical laboratory.

Work hours are flexible but not to exceed 40 hours/week.

You will assist with ongoing translation projects pertaining to soft tissue sarcoma and gastric malignancies.

Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor degree in STEM field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior experience working with small mammals, including mice (GEMM, NSG)
Prior experience with basic laboratory experiments (cell culture, PCR, western blotting)
Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (centrifuge, incubator, pipettors, microscope)
Demonstrate ability to conduct defined research protocols independently, with excellent
troubleshooting skills
Ability to work well in a team including medical residents, undergraduate students, and other lab
personnel
Preferred:
Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
Highly Preferred:
Previous experience writing scientific publications
Demonstrate proficiency in data presentation software including Excel and PowerPoint
High capability to learn and master new materials and techniques in order to work independently
with minimal supervision or reminders
Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize responsibilities/tasks efficiently
Required:
Understanding of University procedures and policies for ordering and biohazard, radioactive and
chemical waste disposal

Preferred:
Experience with fluorescent microscopy (confocal, white light) and micro-CT / PET imaging
Knowledge of cell biology, cancer metabolism, soft tissue sarcoma, gastric malignancies and targeted
therapy
