Research Associate II – Head and Neck Surgery

Responsibilities

Working independently in three Principal Investigators’ labs, you will develop and
perform numerous research tasks including molecular biology assays, microscopy, human and animal cell
culture, procedures with research animals, data presentations, writing, general laboratory upkeep and
maintenance, and supervising laboratory safety.

You will develop and perform tasks with research animals,
including injections, surgical procedures, and post-procedural care; perform data analysis and make
presentations, generate and write experimental protocols and compliance documents, communicate with lab
team members at lab meetings, maintain lab safety, compliance and documentation, order supplies, and train
and assisting students, residents and post-doctoral researchers.

Incumbent will be under the direct supervision of PI(s).

Qualifications

Skill in operating medical equipment such as basic anesthesia machine,
microscopes, cautery, suction, oxygen delivery, heart rate, blood pressure,
blood gas analyzer, electrolyte, and IV infusion.
Skill in weighing, prepping, endotracheal intubation, administration of
medications, iv therapy, and collection of blood
Knowledge of medical supplies, their function, and use.
Skill in use of general surgical instruments
Skill in trouble shooting minor and major problems with lab equipment
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Skill in performing minor and major surgery under the direction of the
principle surgeon.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques and maintenance of sterile fields
Ability to comply with applicable policies and procedures
