Research And Development Technician

Description: Seeking a talented R&D Polymerization Technician to develop next generation Drag Reducing Agents to improve the flow of crude oil and refined product transportation in pipeline.

Our s trategy is to enter and compete in the Drag Reducing Agents (DRA) market for crude oil and refined product transportation through extension of our related chemistry to offer advantaged additives.

Perform laboratory scale operations for bulk polymerization for the development of next generation DRA polymers and formulations Characterize physical properties of novel materials in our labs using viscometers, particle size analyzers, rheometers and other instruments Liaise with external service providers to ensure analytical and bench testing are delivered to a high-quality standard and against established timelines Accurately manage test results and technical information, interpret data, make recommendations and maintain comprehensive electronic laboratory notebook records Scale up newly developed DRA in pilot plant scale production Assist in the set-up of new laboratory apparatus Support quality control and equipment maintenance within the lab Skills: Chemistry, Research & development, Polymer, Viscosity, R&D, Polymer chemistry, Polymerization, Chemical, Scale up, Materials science Qualifications: Experience can be supplemental for a degree
– Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline preferred.

Knowledge of polymerization, emulsion, water-based dispersion, surfactant technology and familiarity in pipeline hydraulics a plus.

Lab scale / pilot plant experience in chemicals/ petrochemicals related industry.

Experienced with glove box inert atmosphere control system would be a plus Ability to design, recommend and execute experimental programs with guidance from supervisor Ability to work autonomously, effective time-management skills, work with accuracy, attention to detail, and drive to deliver against project objectives and timeline Experience Level: Intermediate Level About Actalent: Actalent connects passion with purpose.
